The IMAGINA AWARDS 2006: Images beyond imagination
With more than 650 works in 2005, the IMAGINA AWARDS remain the unchallenged spearhead of international digital creation. This not-to-be-missed competition, which came of age by becoming the reference competition worldwide for computer-generated images and special effects, not only reflects the state of industrial development, but is also an outstanding space for discovering forthcoming productions. The largest American studios, the best advertising agencies, the most prestigious schools, the most gifted independent film-makers, all kinds of talents are brought together each year, around the celebrated teapot that is the symbol of the competition. For almost a quarter of a century, the IMAGINA AWARDS have recognised the genius of artists, directors and students. John Lasseter for example won the Grand Prix Imagina with Toy Story, as did Christophe Gans with Crying Freeman, Tim Burton for Mars Attacks and Pitof with his tribute to Jesse Owens & Carl Lewis. With prizes in ten categories, three of which are awarded by audience voting, the IMAGINA AWARDS put digital creation within the reach of everyone’s mind, enabling an evaluation of international talent which makes no concessions. In February next year, this unique competition will again delight the public with discoveries, surprises and emotions galore.
