SuperNeen è stato progettato in modo da poter mostrare il meglio di Neen Creations (arte, architettura, moda, design, musica, scrittura, stile), dal 2000 - anno in cui è stato concepito da Miltos Manetas - ai giorni nostri, introducendo al tempo stesso il concetto di Neen in Italia. Le Edizioni Charta pubblicheranno il primo libro su Neen, in inglese e in italiano, per celebrare questo fondamentale evento.

In NeenWorld Angelidakis ha disegnato un Neen Village dove ogni luogo possa rappresentare l'estetica o le idee di diverse Neenstars. Questa nuova architettura si muove con criteri non dissimili da quelli del mondo della moda: una persona potrebbe veder realizzato un edificio nello stesso modo in cui potrebbe ottenere un vestito su misura da un creatore di moda. Nella sua prima visione tutto ciò era realizzato per lo schermo del computer e poteva essere visitato online, usando un avatar, ed era parte dell'universo Active Worlds (www.activeworlds.com ).
Ora Angelidakis ha compiuto un passo ulteriore, "animando" alcuni di quei luoghi per lo spazio espositivo reale della galleria. Mentre altri architetti usano i computer e Internet come strumenti, Angelidakis li interpreta come luoghi, portandone conseguentemente la "memoria" nel mondo reale in forma di architettura concreta.
In SuperNeen a Milano il NeenWorld di Angelidakis ospiterà proiezioni di diversi websites di Neen (essi sono le creazioni più amate dalle Neenstars), funzionando altresì come punto d'incontro per le persone coinvolte in Neen e il pubblico in genere. Durante i due mesi della mostra le Neenstars sono invitate a usare creativamente lo spazio come studio o per concerti, performance ecc.
La mostra sarà anche un'opportunità data ai giovani italiani per entrare in contatto con Neen, prendendovi parte :

NEEN MANIFESTO -- MANIFESTO NEEN
Neen sta per Neenstar: una generazione ancora indefinita di artisti visivi. Alcuni di essi appartengono al mondo dell'arte contemporanea, altri sono creatori di software, web designer e registi o animatori di videogiochi.
Le nostre teorie ufficiali circa la realtà – la fisica dei quanti ecc. – provano che il sapore delle nostre vite è il sapore di una simulazione. Le macchine ci aiutano a sentirci a nostro agio in questa situazione: esse simulano la simulazione che chiamiamo Natura.
Aprire un documento di un computer è come aprire la porta di una stanza: due versioni della realtà apparentemente perfette e dense che cominceranno a dissolversi quando inizierai ad analizzarle.
La rivoluzione informatica sta al Neen come la fantasia stava al surrealismo e la libertà al comunismo. Crea il contesto ma può essere anche posposta. Le Neenstar vogliono sempre avere i prodotti più nuovi per creare il momentum . Glorificano le macchine ma si annoiano anche di esse, qualche volta preferiscono osservare, altre volte utilizzarle. Le Neenstars provano piacere nelle azioni intermedie. Neen è perdere tempo tra differenti sistemi operativi.
Le Neenstar amano copiare alla stessa maniera della città di Hong Kong che moltiplica i propri edifici di maggior successo: nomi, abiti, stili, arte e architettura sono importanti per le Neenstar però fanno tutto da zero come se quello che è stato fatto prima di loro non fosse poi così importante.
Neen è molto sentimentale ma non è qualcosa che ha a che fare con l'identità, sebbene le Neenstar utilizzino occasionalmente le proprie identità come una password per vivere situazioni privilegiate. Per una Neenstar l'identità è uno stato mentale interscambiabile, può succedere che una Neenstar crei l'opera di un altra Neenstar e questa è la maggiore differenza tra Neen e l'arte contemporanea. Mentre nell'arte contemporanea devi essere te stesso tutto il tempo, una specie di “eroe” intento sempre a distinguere la propria immagine finché non diventerà uno specchio della propria vita, nel Neen sei una specie di “schermo”. Un progetto neenstar è un Io temporaneo sempre in costruzione, che si muove dal presente al passato al futuro, senza limiti.
Poiché una Neenstar pubblicherà tutto sul web, il proprio stato mentale si rifletterà nel pubblico.
Le Neenstar sono persone pubbliche.
Se la fantasia ha portato i surrealisti al ridicolo e la rivoluzione ha condotto il comunismo al fallimento, sarà interessante osservare dove la rivoluzione informatica porterà Neen.

SUPERNEEN is a show at the Gallery Pack It will open on March 07, 2006.
The purpose of the show is to Demo the very best of Neen Creations (art/architecture/fashion/design/music/writing/style) from 2000 to the present and introduce the concept of Neen in Italy. For the occasion of the show, the first book about Neen will be published by Charta Editions, in English and Italian. The space of the exhibition is created by Andreas Angelidakis and it is a development of his NeenWorld scenario. In Neen World, Angelidakis designed a Neen Village where every place represents either aesthetics or ideas of the different Neenstars. There you had a new architecture that was similar in a way to Fashion: people could have their building "made" in the same way that you could have a suit made for you from a Fashion designer. However it was all for the computer screen, which you could visit online using an avatar body and was part of the Active Worlds Universe. Now, Angelidakis is bringing all of that one step further, "animating" some of those spaces for the real place of the gallery. While other architects use computers and the Internet as a tool, Angelidakis sees them as a place and then in the real World brings back the memories of that place in the form of regular architecture. At SuperNeen in Milan, his NeenWorld will host projections of different Neen Websites (Websites are for Neenstars their most beloved artworks) and it will also function as a meeting place for peopleinvolved with Neen and the larger public. During the show, which will stay open for 2 months, Neenstars are invited to use the space as their office or to use it for concerts, performances etc. .

The history of Neen started in May 2000, when an artist paid 100.000 $ to a California Branding company in order to produce a name for a new Art Movement. "During a packed press conference at the Gagosian Gallery in Manhattan -- and a panel of people like Harvard cognitive scientist Steven Pinker ready to provide (tongue-in-cheek) analysis of the term -- the new word was unveiled. Actually, it was the squeaky, synthetic voice of a Sony Vaio that made the announcement. The word was Neen " John Glassie, Salon.com, March 21, 2002 After the Gagosian presentation, Neen start growing all around the planet, hosted by such different places as the obscure ElectronicOrphanage in Los Angeles, the extra-Hip London night club "Sketch" and the piratical exhibition Whitneybiennial.com. The name, which intentionally rhymes with "screen," was revealed at a New York city press conference Wednesday. Other finalists included. "Telic" and "Esc." Olsen, Marisa S. (June 1, 2000) Art By Another Name: Neen, Wired Magazine Online. "'Neen' transcends art. It's more a state of mind than a form or school of art," Lexicon Branding CEO David Placek. "Neen is the same kind of conceptual endeavor that so many other of today's new media artists are engaged in. It's amusing, but it's unlikely that any sort of new coinage cooked up as a conceptual exercise will take hold." Matthew Mirapaul, the online arts columnist for The New York Times.
