Interview with Daniel Aspuru
What is your background ?
I´ve been musician since age six, played several musical instruments for more than 20 years. I always keep learning new technologies because I like to learn new things, and I use those technologies to express things I feel inside me. Most of them are in the language of sound.
When do you create ?
I create when I have time, usually after 6:00pm, I create more when I have a deadline or financial support, but I create all the time, I have a recording studio, a lab, and a lot of musical instruments in my house.
who inspires your work ?
I can have inspiration in almost every moment of my life, or any music I hear, or any text I read. But the real inspiration comes from inside me or a divine force that uses me to enjoy.
What is art ?
Art is expressing feelings with human-made techniques.
Have you ever exhibited in Italy ?
I've played with te band NINE RAIN in the Villa Ada Festival in Rome in 2003.
How do you image your work in a city_space ?
I live in the biggest city in the world, so I can image a lot of possibilities for my work in a city_space.

tell me more about your work-
I like to experiment with interactive musical robots that reacts to musical instrument's interpretation. I will create more robots to make a professional performance in the future. In that performance, musicians will be able to control other musical instruments with their instrument as source.
In 2005 I created the "Eolic Transducer", a piece that controls eight resonant bamboo pipes with audio signals.
