VideoChannel is looking for video works on the theme"gender identiy".
In a times when the traditional role of being "male" and "female" in society has lost its meaning, a male expresses his female, and a female her male components of their personality, when sexuality is not reduced to being straight or gay, but countless mixed forms of human existancecan be lived, defining oneself in a gender specific context may becomean essential question.The call is inviting artists to reflect their own or the subject of male, female, gay, lesbian, transgender etc identityvia the medium of video.
The deadline is extended to 1 March 2006, as it planned to present the selection of "gender identity" on several video festivals.For being reviewed, the videos should be preferably available online and have to be submitted as URL for download.

Readme 100 - Temporary Software Art Factory

Readme 100 is hosted by Hartware MedienKunstVerein, Dortmund, Germany, and is organized by Inke Arns, Olga Goriunova, Francis Hunger and Alexei Shulgin. The organizers have also formed a selection committee together with Amy Alexander and Alex McLean from Runme.org.
Readme is a travelling media art festival with a focus on software art. Its mission is software art development and critical contextualisation. Readme is closely related with Runme.org, the software art repository.

The Readme 100 Temporary Software Art Factory took place in Dortmund in November 2005. This experimental new art festival dealt with the notion of production as it relates to software, software art and software cultures. ReadMe 100 focused not only on software as a product, but also on its experimental production through methods incl. outsourcing, the use of open source solutions and generative production. The event addressed issues like the economies of arts, desire and openness, harmony of markets, the unmarketable, reverse outsourcing, resistant mapping a.o. The programme during transmediale.06 discusses projects and research commissioned specially for ReadMe 100 and features the first presentation of the Readme 100 publication, produced in cooperation with transmediale."

TransISTor is an ongoing training project (started in 2005) with a main objective to increase competence of young audiovisual professionals as well as educators working with interactive media.
The training sessions which combine personalized hands-on practising with conceptual and technological introductions address producers, developers, programmers as well as teachers, artists, and designers.

In 2006 TransISTor offers 3 intensive training sessions (in English) with renowned lecturers and professionals from Europe, USA and Japan.
