« Areas of Conflu(x)ence » Project,
Luxembourg and Sibiu, 15th of August - 15th of October 2007.
In the frame of « Areas of conflu(x)ence »
project, organized as a double event that will
take place in Luxembourg and Sibiu (Romania), the
two European Capitals of Culture in 2007,
Arscenic Association launch a call for projects
addressed to European artists.
Through the subject of the landscape, the project
will bring together works that will prospect the
different apprehension modalities offered by the
new media and digital technologies.
A large scale of expression's forms is supposed
to be accepted: Net art, video art, multimedia
installations, sound installations, video games,
performances, long distance interactive devices.
A special focus will be made on works and devices
which will develop an interactive relationship
between several distant places.
The project wants to be the convergence point
between three areas: Luxembourg and Sibiu, as the
two physical project's accounts, and the Internet
web, as its virtual and global side. The works
will be presented in art conventional spaces, in
urban public spaces, as well as in the
« virtual » area of the Internet.
The selection will be made on the bias of the
artistic and technical qualities, as well as on
the behalf of the original answer to the proposed
subject. It will be made by a committee composed
by representatives of the project's institutional
partners, academics and professionals.
The organizers keep on their account the choice
of the geographical and local set up of the works.
Dates:
Submission deadline: 10th of September 2006.
Notification of acceptance: November 2006.

The PHOENIX DIGITAL commissioning programme will span 2006, and Follow Through is the first of those commissions to go live.
A sideways look at Art
Phoenix Arts Centre and the Department of Museum Studies, University of Leicester have co-commissioned a unique artwork at the New Walk Museum, Leicester from Monday 24th to Friday 28th April (10am to 5pm).
New York artists Jennifer Crowe and Scott Patterson have created Follow Through which challenges the ways we look at art. Using a small pocket PC, visitors are invited to look round New Walk Museum in a new way. Follow Through doesn't tell you about the art, but aims to make you think about how people act in galleries and museums
Follow Through has been developed specifically for the New Walk art Galleries. Jennifer Crowe says, ?we wanted to express our fondness for and fascination with museums and the act of museum going. The art collection at the New Walk Museum is a perfect place to do that?.

The artwork is taking place alongside the Museum: A World Forum conference at Leicester University.

On the initiative of finnish associative actors, Piknik Frequency and Katastro.fi, the international festival PixelACHE based in Helsinki tours every year to a new capital in partnership with local structures (New York, Montréal, Stockholm, Bratislava). www.pixelache.ac
The french companion piece of the festival arrives this spring in France, received by Ars Longa, Confluences and Mains d'Œuvres, with the complicity of the Finnish Institute (Institut Finlandais) and Project 101. The theme of PixelACHE is « le boom dot org » and it applies itself to the actuality of electronic cultures on their free and participative side.
The program offers to a big number of new actors of the european artistic scene the occasion to meet each other, to compare their parcatical experiences and to create new networks. It permits the public to discover installations, to participate in initiation workshops and public debates and to appreciate the profusion of proposed electronic experiences.
