"Fast Film" is an animated homage to motion pictures,
hand-made by folding 65,000 print outs of film frames into three dimensional objects.
A woman is abducted and a man comes to her rescue, but during their escape they find themselves in the enemy’s secret headquarters. This classic plot conceals an hommage to action movies. In 14 minutes, Fast Film (a play on words, English fast and German fast, meaning “almost”) provides a tour de force through film history, from its silent beginnings to present-day Hollywood. The filmmakers printed out some 65,000 individual images from 300 films, folded them into paper objects, arranged them in complex tableaux, and then brought them to life with an animation camera in a two-year production process.

Gondry nasce nel 1964 a Versailles, Francia, e si appassiona da subito alla musica pop.
Si trasferisce a Parigi ed inizia la sua carriera di musicista nel gruppo francese Oui Oui, come batterista.
Il gruppo realizza due album e diversi singoli, e Gondry realizza i relativi videoclip promozionali, fino al 1992, anno dello scioglimento della band. Uno dei video diretti dal regista passa su MTV e viene notato da Björk, che gli chiede di dirigere il video di "Human Behavior".
La collaborazione con la cantante islandese prosegue a lungo, dando vita a cinque video, mentre Gondry inizia a lavorare anche con artisti del calibro di Rolling Stones, The White Stripes, Chemical Brothers, Foo Fighters, Massive Attack, Kylie Minogue, Lenny Kravitz e Radiohead, dirigendo, inoltre, acclamati e celebri spot pubblicitari, come quelli per la Levi's (lo spot Drugstore del 1994 si aggiudica una Palma d'Oro al Festival di Cannes), la vodka Smirnoff e la Gap.
Gondry è spesso citato insieme ai registi Spike Jonze e David Fincher come rappresentanti della grande influenza dello stile dei videoclip nel mondo del cinema. Il suo primo lavoro in questo campo è il cortometraggio La lettera 1998).
Nel 2001 approda sul grande schermo con il lungometraggio Human Nature, nel quale conserva tutte le caratteristiche creative e visive dimostrate nei lavori precedenti, e partecipa come regista al documentario collettivo I've Been Twelve Forever nel 2003.
Il grande successo arriva nel 2004 grazie a Se mi lasci ti cancello, con Jim Carrey e Kate Winslet, scritto insieme all'amico sceneggiatore Charlie Kaufman, nel quale concentra tutto il talento visivo e rivoluzionario del suo stile. Il film gli vale un Oscar 2005 per la miglior sceneggiatura originale, su 2 nomination ricevute (alle quali vanno aggiunte 4 candidature ai Golden Globe).alcuni videoclip ...

The grey video
Creato anonimamente nell'ottobre del 2004 e censurato dalla EMI (etichetta discografica) che cercava di mantenere il controllo sul white Album del Beatles.
Nel febbraio 2004 un gruppo chiamato Downhill Battle organizza una "azione elettronica di disobbedienza civile" chiamata "giovedi' grigio" - "Grey Tuesday"
Downhill Battle protestava l'azione legale intrapresa dalla Emi per censurare il remix di DJ Danger Mouse che ricombinava suoni ripresi dal White Album dei Beatles con tracce vocali dell'album di Jay-Z’s Black Album .
Durante le 24 ore del "giovedi' grigio", piu' di 100,000 copie del Grey Album furono scaricate da centinaia di siti internet.
Nello stesso tempo centinaia di siti web dimostravano il loro appoggio colorando i pulsandi del menu di grigio.
Nove mesi dopo il grey album nasce il grey video firmato da Ramon & Pedro.

Paul Van Hoeydonck
Fallen Astronaut is an 8.5cm aluminum sculpture of an astronaut in a spacesuit.
It is the only piece of art on the Moon.
It was created by Belgian artist Paul Van Hoeydonck, who met astronaut David Scott at a dinner party. Van Hoeydonck was asked to create a small statuette to personally commemorate those astronauts and cosmonauts having lost their lives in the furtherance of space exploration.
Van Hoeydonck was given a set of design restrictions: in addition to the physical requirements that the sculpture be both lightweight and sturdy, and that it be capable of withstanding the temperature extremes of the Moon, the statuette could not be identifiably male or female, nor of any identifiable ethnic group.
Furthermore, in accordance with Scott's wish to avoid the commercialization of space, Van Hoeydonck's name would not be made public.
In 1971, Fallen Astronaut was placed on the Moon by the crew of Apollo 15, along with a plaque bearing the names of fourteen American astronauts and Russian cosmonauts who died during spaceflights or training exercises.
After the crew mentioned the statuette during their post-flight press conference, the National Air and Space Museum requested that a replica be made for public display. The crew agreed, under the
condition that it was to be displayed "with good taste and without publicity"; in April of 1972, Van Hoeydonck presented the Museum with a replica of Fallen Astronaut, which is now on display with a replica of the plaque.
In May of 1972, Scott learned that Van Hoeydonck planned to make more replicas and sell them. Feeling that this would be a violation of the spirit of their agreement, Scott tried to persuade Van Hoeydonck to refrain, but was unsuccessful; 950 signed replicas went on sale for $750 apiece at the Waddell Gallery of New York.
