OPENSTUDIO is web + art + community + economics. It is an open ended experiment that couples a very simple drawing tool with an economy of artists, curators, collectors, dealers and viewers. Members can create and modify drawings, set prices and licenses, exchange and exhibit work, view financial records, and commission one another. Because OPENSTUDIO is experimental, we continually add features and take others away. We know that the system is not perfect, but it was never meant to be. Please enjoy it as it is with its quirks.

MGM organizza da anni a Milano l'evento meet the media guru, con il quale si "espongono persone ed aziende alla contaminazione da parte di intelligenze e punti di vista diversi". Teatro degli incontri, tradizionalmente è la Mediateca di Milano (Via Moscova, 28), ma questa volta ci sarà qualcosa in più.Idearium ospiterà infatti il workshop (in diretta streaming) sulla propria isola su SecondLife. Quindi, chi non fosse a Milano, potrà vederlo attraverso internet. A patto naturalmente di avere un avatar presentabile. :)La diretta dovrebbe partire attorno alle 19.00 di questo mart 20 feb. Per trovare il posto giusto cercate "idearium" nella mappa o "meetthemediaguru" nel search. Ci vediamo lì.
ps. John Maeda è Professore emerito e codirettore dell'M.I.T. MediaLab di Boston. Le informazioni sul suo ultimo libro le trovate -anche- in second life, presso la sala dove sarà proiettato lo streaming.

Italian graphic artists for the first time in Second life
Mariabruna Fabrizi and Fosco Lucarelli, directors and curators of the GridGallery,
in association with Idearium ( idearium.org), have organized " Se vi pare che questo mondo sia brutto" ("If you find this world bad"), the first collective exhibition of Italian graphic artists held in Second Life ( secondlife.com).
GridGallery is a new virtual gallery located in the region of Idearium at the coordinates: "IDEARIUM 70, 151, 27". (SL-URL: Get to GridGallery)
The vernissage will take place on February 26th, 2007 at 9.30 pm (italian time GMT+1:00). The exhibition will last until April 26th, 2007.
GridGallery is an exhibition space designed by the same curators using the built-in 3d solid modeler. The gallery aims at the circulation and promotion of artistic productions within Second Life, between real experiences and new inworld languages.
This first exhibition collects the works of 21 young Italian graphic artists, already experienced with Internet and weblogs exposure. Therefore Second Life is more a deep upgrade to the future of the Net than just a diversion to them: if Internet and software applications now work as locations, then the GridGallery is going to be The location for the arts. A place conceived to share, to perceive and to enjoy art in truly innovative and fresh ways: just imagine the hypertextuality inherent in linking to the artists' biographies and sites while looking at their works. And included is a catalogue with critical interventions. Artistic fruition becomes multitasking involvement.
