A new festival for electronic arts in Basel
The Shift festival is an international platform for the multifaceted and dynamic field of electronic arts. Shift offers its broad audience insight into the current artistic production in this realm.
Shift is more precisely a fest of inter and trans-medial discourse: Music, visual arts, film, and video meet and exchange ideas their common grounds as well as their unique qualities will become visible and audible in Shift.
The first edition of Shift is held Oct. 25th till Oct. 28th 2007 in the Dreispitz, a zone of urban development in the city of Basel.
The festival is planned to be held annually in late fall.

what is environmental art?
Environmental art is at the forefront of contemporary art movements.
With roots in the Land and Earth Art movements in the 1960s and ’70s, environmental art celebrates our connection to nature through beauty, science, metaphor, spirituality, and ecological restoration. It can encompass a surprising landscape of approaches, from ephemeral “art in nature” sculpture designed to last only a few hours before returning to the earth to community-based “eco-art” installations that clean up polluted watersheds and promote public understanding of local and global environmental issues.
As a not-for-profit online museum (with an office in Marin County, California), greenmuseum.org transcends geography, highlighting a range of artworks and interconnecting the diverse practitioners of this exciting movement. The highlighted artworks in this exhibit are drawn from the global archives of greenmuseum.org and will be featured in a 2008 wall calendar.
Sustaining Beauty provides a sampling of some of the latest developments in this field to stimulate the imagination and promote the role of art in the creation of a more sustainable world culture.
