water images collection

The next International Exhibition will take place in Zaragoza in Spain from 14th June to 14th September on the theme 'Water and sustainable development'.

Because sustainable development begins with the health and dignity of every human being, the Pavilion of France has chosen to cover this subject from the point of view of water and human development.
Because 'the next great step for humanity must be access to drinking water and drainage systems for all', it is urgent to act and establish this priority .
Because the movements, purposes, uses and also the pleasures of water show and tell the diverse and various realities that bring us together but also differentiate us.

The Pavilion of France is asking all inhabitants of the planet, photographers for a day, amateurs, professionals, students, artists, etc. to submit their pictures of water to the website
www.waterimagescollection.com .
A place, a date, a time, a first name, an explanation and other such information will accompany the picture.

These pictures will be displayed without prejudice, on the 4 facades of the Pavilion of France.
Offered to the view of the 12 million visitors of Zaragoza 08, this great collective fresco will take part in a 'worldwide election' campaign with the slogan:
'water is life, sanitation is dignity !'

>From 1st September 2007 to the 15th January 2008, hurry up and post your picture! Thank you for distributing this information ...

To devise this collection, we read the Human Development Report 2006 by the UNDP. 'Beyond scarcity: power, poverty and the global water crisis'

Contemporary Art in West Africa

New Networks: Contemporary Art in West Africa

Seminar, Saturday 20 October 2007
10.30-17.00Tate Liverpool - Albert DockLiverpool

This third seminar in the New Networks series aims to explore the collaboration between artists, curators, critics and institutions in the regions of West Africa, focusing in particular on the impact of international events such as the Dakar Biennale.

While London, Paris and New York continue to act as the powerhouses of the international art world, we are keen to investigate how emergent networks between international neighbours create new possibilities for artistic production. As Africa has emerged on the international visual art scene, it becomes increasingly important to look beyond its representation as an entire continent.
How can we begin to understand the relation between the global and the local as they play out in specific places? Our focus will be on emerging sites of production and their impacts on the art-curatorial landscape, exploring how local initiatives engage with the notion of the region as a place, and what role imagination and fiction play in the constitution of new identities.

Speakers: Koyo Kouoh (curator/ writer, Dakar), Didier Schaub (curator /Doual'art, Douala), N'Goné Fall (curator/ GAW, Dakar/Paris), Bisi Silva (critic/curator, Lagos), Paul Domela (Programme Director (Higher Education and International Exchange), Liverpool Biennial).

Organised in collaboration with Tate Liverpool as part of a series of seminars on new sites of artistic production for Liverpool Biennial 2008.

Chitra Ganesh - Secrets

Jock Mooney, VomShit Dog

Over sixty exhibitors including international rising galleries from Japan to Switzerland, Germany to the USA and Belgium to the UK will be showcasing new work in the newest major art event on the London art fair circuit, hosted by East London gallery Keith Talent.
With its anti-hierarchical policy and curatorial freedom, Year_07 is part of a new wave of art fair, proving its unique ambition by allowing exhibition without restraint and encouraging experimental artists and galleries to display imaginatively within the venue’s space. Riverside venue County Hall will provide a richly traditional space of 19th century wood panelled rooms overlooking the Thames, which artists are encouraged to engage with.
