Milano e San Pietroburgo, città in trasformazione
Alla Triennale un incontro dedicato all’architettura delle due metropoli

Venerdì 30 novembre 2007 alla Triennale di Milano (Sala LAB) alle ore 17.30 si terrà il Forum di architettura “Milano – San Pietroburgo. Città in trasformazione”, coordinato da Alessandro de Magistris, Docente al Politecnico di Milano, Dipartimento di Architettura e Pianificazione.

Intervengono Carlo Maria Giorgio Masseroli, Assessore allo Sviluppo del Territorio Comune di Milano, Aleksandr Viktorov, Presidente della Commissione di pianificazione urbanistica di San Pietroburgo, Fulvio Irace, Responsabile scientifico settore Architettura e Territorio della Triennale di Milano, Irina Korobina, Direttrice del Centro Studi di Architettura Contemporanea di Mosca ЦСА, Aleksej Levčuk, Architetto, Cino Zucchi, Architetto.

L’iniziativa è promossa dal Comune di Milano-Settore Relazioni Internazionali con l’Associazione Italia Russia Lombardia, il Politecnico di Milano e La Triennale di Milano, con il sostegno dell’Ambasciata della Federazione Russa in Italia e della Fondazione “Centro per lo sviluppo dei rapporti Italia Russia”, nell’ambito delle celebrazioni per il 40° anniversario del gemellaggio tra Milano e San Pietroburgo.

Il riferimento saranno i grandi progetti elaborati per la città di San Pietroburgo, tra cui il progetto curato del grande architetto e designer inglese Norman Foster di riqualificazione a destinazione culturale degli edifici dell'area della Novaja Gollandija - importante complesso architettonico sorto nel cuore della capitale baltica nel diciottesimo secolo, al cui disegno contribuì Jean-Baptiste Vallin de la Mothe - l’intervento di ampliamento e ristrutturazione dello storico Teatro Marinskij, su progetto dell’architetto francese Dominique Perrault.

Inoltre, il progetto curato dallo studio inglese RMJM per la realizzazione di Gazprom City, il nuovo centro direzionale del colosso russo del gas Gazprom, progetto vincitore del concorso internazionale a cui hanno partecipato illustri architetti, tra cui l’italiano Massimiliano Fuksas.

E in parallelo, una panoramica dei nuovi progetti milanesi, dall’intervento di ristrutturazione del Teatro alla Scala realizzato tra il 2002 e il 2004 da Mario Botta, al progetto CityLife, firmato dagli architetti Zaha Hadid, Arata Isozaki, Daniel Libeskind e Pier Paolo Maggiora per la riqualificazione del quartiere storico della Fiera di Milano, al progetto di riqualificazione dell’area Garibaldi-Repubblica con la realizzazione della Città della Moda, della Biblioteca degli alberi (un grande parco di 108mila mq) e del Polo istituzionale con la nuova sede della Regione Lombardia e il nuovo palazzo comunale, all’intervento per la riqualificazione dell’area Montecity-Rogoredo con il progetto Milano Santa Giulia a cura di Norman Foster.

Technical Matters präsentiert die unterschiedlichen Ansätze fünf zeitgenössischer Künstler im Umgang mit der Welt der Technik und Technologien, die entweder ganz neu sind oder in dieser Form erstmalig und in innovativer Weise im künstlerischen Bereich eingesetzt werden. Dies erfolgt entweder durch die direkte Verwendung neuer eigenentwickelter Techniken in der Produktion der Arbeiten selbst, durch die gezielte Einbindung neuer Technologien in eher traditionelle künstlerische Prozesse oder in der Darstellung einer imaginierten Welt der Technik. Allen Vorgehensweisen gemein ist jedoch die bewusste Reflexion des modernen Umgangs mit Technik und Technologie.

Überlegungen zur Fragilität von Ökosystemen, zu Nachhaltigkeit, alternativen und erneuerbaren Energien bilden die Grundlage für das Ausstellungsprojekt, in dem die Rolle der Kunst und der Neuen Medien für das Verständnis von Ökologie als eines Kommunikationssystems im Vordergrund steht.

Das Verhältnis von Menschen und Tieren, organischen und anorganischen Substanzen, wird immer mehr als ein Austauschverhältnis von labilem Gleichgewicht verstanden, das durch naturwissenschaftliche Aufzeichnungsweisen nur unzureichend erfasst wird.

Die Arbeiten in diesem Projekt erproben neue Verbindungen von Kunst, Wissenschaft und Technik zur Entwicklung und Darstellung neuer Wahrnehmungsmuster über die Kommunikation und Interaktion im ökologischen System.

From Spark to Pixel - Art + New Media

Vom Funken zum Pixel. Kunst + Neue Medien

In an international overview, the ‘From Spark to Pixel. Art + New Media’ exhibition in the atrium and on the first floor of the Martin-Gropius-Bau presents 24 installations by artists from 12 countries involving the use of digital and interactive electronic media in a large-scale context.

In all, 20 of the 24 installations will be on show for the first time in Germany. Some installations will be shown as world premieres: FLOW BERLIN 2007 by Erwin Redl, Time May Change Me, I Can´t Change Time by Brad Hwang and CaMg(CO3)2 by Jean Michel Bruyère, as well as the newly developed part of Joachim Sauters / Dirk Lüsebrink’s : The Invisible Shapes of Things Past.

Richard Castelli (Paris) developed the concept and curated the exhibit for the Berliner Festspiele. His international collaboration with artists and media representatives made it possible to present a range of facets and developments of the current media art in the Martin-Gropius-Bau.

The artistic prologue is provided by Candle TV, an object produced in 1976 by media art pioneer Nam June Paik. ‘From Spark to Pixel’ then goes on to present works by Jeffrey Shaw and Sarah Kenderdine (Australia), Dumb Type, Shiro Takatani and Saburo Teshigawara (Japan), Gregory Barsamian (USA), Marie Maquaire, Thomas McIntosh (Canada), Romy Achituv (Israel), Jean Michel Bruyère, Du Zhenjun, Pierrick Sorin (France), Christian Partos (Sweden), David Moises,Erwin Redl (Austria) and Ulf Langheinrich, KAI, Brad Hwang, Joachim Sauter and Dirk Lüsebrink, Art + Com (Germany).

Huddersfield Contemporary Music Festival UK

Ultrasound has commissioned renowned German sound artist, musician and composer Christina Kubisch to create a new 'Electrical Walk' specifically for Huddersfield. Christina has explored the hidden electromagnetic acoustic landscapes of Huddersfield and created a fascinating guided walk for audiences to experience. Sources include illuminated retail displays, cash machines, communication antennae, and security devices. The palette of sounds, their timbre and volume vary enormously but they have one thing in common - they are ubiquitous.Headphones and map can be collected from the HCMF Hub at the Lawrence Batley Theatre. www.lbt-uk.org

Edward Burtynsky

Opening Saturday, November 17th, 2007.
The Paul Kuhn Gallery is pleased to present an exhibition of photographs by Canadian artist Edward Burtynsky. The main floor galleries will feature photographs of Quarries. The release of the new book "Quarries" published by Steidl and awarded The German Art Book Award of 2008, will coincide with the opening of the exhibition. Signed editions of the book will be available for purchase at the gallery.
This monumental examination of landscapes created by large scale industrial extraction is the result of twenty-five years of Burtynsky concern for the impact of industry on the environment.Various other photographs from the artist's series also will be displayed in the lower galleries.
