Roppongi Crossing 2007

"Roppongi Crossing 2007: Future Beats in Japanese Contemporary Art" is currently on view at the Mori Art Museum, until 14, January, 2008.

Focusing on the idea of 'intersection,' selecting 36 artists whose works have an energy and sphere of influence that spreads beyond the confines of conventional artistic categories. In addition to artists who are emerging on the art scene right now, the list also includes others who drove the scene in its formative period in the 1960s and 1970s, and whose feverish output continues unabated today. Linking genres and generations in the present, a faint but common beat can be detected - a beat like a pulse that reverbrates throughout the Japanese contemporary art scene and provides a clue as to which direction it is headed in the future.

Visitors to "Roppongi Crossing 2007" were invited to vote (until 17, Dec) for the People's Prize, choosing the work of art that left the strongest impression on them. The MAM Prize was chosen by the Director and members of the Mori Art Museum Advisory Board.
