Culture Ireland, with the close support of the Arts Council is progressing Ireland's involvement in Venice Biennale 2009. One of the first steps is the engagement of a Commissioner to organise and manage Ireland's official national representation at this prestigious event. newsletter.artscouncil.ie
- The Hong Kong Arts Development Council (ADC) is going to participate in the 53rd Venice Biennale (Visual Arts) from June to November 2009 in Italy, showcasing the works of Hong Kong visual artists in the international arts arena.
The ADC has been presenting the works of Hong Kong visual artists in the name of "Hong Kong, China" at the Venice Biennale since 2001. Through participating in this renowned arts biennale, it is aimed to develop creativity and international perspective among local artists, and to create a favourable environment for the long-term development of visual arts in Hong Kong. The total number of visitors of the past four exhibitions is over 100,000.
Interested parties, including artists/ independent curators/ arts organisations, are now cordially invited to submit proposals for exhibition and curation of the Hong Kong Pavilion in the 53rd Venice Biennale. Application forms and conditions are available at the ADC Administration Office at 22/F, 181 Queen's Road Central, Hong Kong, or can be downloaded from the ADC website. Proposals and completed application forms must be deposited in the collection box located at the address above by 6:30 pm, 29 February 2008 (Friday). Please mark "53rdhkadc.org.hk/ Venice Biennale" on the envelope. Applications submitted by post will only be accepted if postmarked no later than the deadline. Late proposals will not be processed.
- Creative New Zealand is currently seeking expressions of interest from artist/curator teams of considerable experience and reputation to develop the 2009 Venice Biennale exhibition.
