Nel 1976 il sasso del punk nello stagno del sistema ha prodotto dei cerchi concentrici, alcuni si sono persi,affondati, altri proseguono con forme diverse ma ancora sulla spinta irriverente della prima onda che li ha generati.
“PUNK 1976 – 2008 32 anni, 5 mesi, ancora molti giorni” è un modo per guadare a questi cerchi, la loro evoluzione, trasformazione. I cerchi sono AgenziaX, TrueLove Produzioni, Kriminal Class, sono i suoni balcanici mescolati al battito del reggae di Scratchy Myers, sono lo sguardo di Fabrizio Barile stampato sulla pellicola, sono il lavoro di archiviazione/installazione di Fabrizio Basso. I cerchi sono tutti coloro che partecipano a questo evento.

Media Art Café Berlijn - Enschede
In de maand februari organiseert Medialab Enschede in het kader van de Valentijnsdag een bijzondere expositie en Medialab avond. Universele thema’s liefde, relaties en seksualiteit worden in de context van hedendaagse maatschappij en mediakunst geplaatst.
Tijdens de expositie HYPERLOVE zijn videowerken van (inter)nationale kunstenaars te zien met: video-installatie Laylah the Creature Beyond Dreams van het Israëlische kunstenaarsduo Gil & Moti, film Gravity van de Belgische kunstenaar Nicolas Provost (geselecteerd voor het Internationaal Filmfestival van Rotterdam 2008), video-installatie Tenderness Lesson van de Russische kunstenaar Alexandra Dementieva, film Das nächste Mal van de Duitse kunstenaar Corinna Schnitt en een lasergraffiti performance van de Nederlandse kunstenaar Floris Schreuder.
De video-installatie Laylah the Creature Beyond Dreams van het kunstenaarsduo Gil & Moti speelt zich af op drie schermen waarbij Gil & Moti’s eerste liefdesrelatie met een Libanese man zich ontvouwt in beeld, geluid en tekst. Met vastgelegde brieven, foto’s, videodocumentatie, e-mails, smsjes, schilderijen en dagboekaantekeningen, nemen Gil & Moti de kijker mee door de hoogtepunten van hun relatie: vanaf het eerste moment dat ze de Libanese man op Internet hebben ontmoet, tot hun gezamenlijke leven en de intensieve relatie die vier jaar duurde. Met Laylah the Creature Beyond Dreams leggen Gil & Moti de complexiteit en de consequenties bloot van de belevenis van het artistieke concept.
In de film Gravity van Nicolas Provost, zijn tientallen filmkussen uit stereotypische jaren ‘50 films door elkaar gemonteerd. De vertelling is ondermijnd door de kussen die volledig zijn geïsoleerd uit de originele context; de actie vertraagt en flikkert heen en weer. De shots van verschillende films overlappen en gaan in elkaar over; een paar seconden later verschijnen de hoofdpersonen en gaan weer uiteen. De zoetsappige en dramatische soundtrack van de romantische film contrasteert met de gedeconstrueerde beelden; samen vormen ze een zes minuten durende duizelingwekkende kus waarin liefde een gepassioneerde strijd voert. Gravity is geselecteerd voor het Internationaal Filmfestival van Rotterdam 2008.
Voor Alexandra Dementieva spelen het gezicht en de gezichtsuitdrukkingen een belangrijke rol in menselijke communicatie. Een vluchtige blik, een glimlach of opgetrokken wenkbrauwen kunnen veel meer overdragen dan woorden. Psychologie wordt toegepast voor verschillende doeleinden bij televisie, film en reclame, media die even geïnteresseerd zijn in het thema van gezichtsuitdrukkingen. Hoe en waardoor wordt een blik gecontroleerd, welke sociale codes worden daarbij geactiveerd en wat zijn de taboe’s van het kijken? Het is bekend dat deze codes gedefinieerd worden door culturele tradities: in Japan hoort de spreker naar de nek van zijn of haar gesprekspartner te kijken, in Nigeria is het een taboe om te kijken naar het gezicht van iemand van hogere sociale status. Mannen kijken naar vrouwen en vrouwen kijken naar zichzelf terwijl ze bekeken worden. Net als in het verleden, worden vrouwen niet zoals mannen gerepresenteerd. De man is nog steeds de ‘ideale’ kijker, een beeld moet hem kunnen vleien. In veel reclameproducties wordt het standpunt van de mannelijke kijker ingenomen, ook wanneer de boodschap aan vrouwen is gericht. De video-installatie Tenderness Lesson van Dementieva is gefilmd in close-up. Acteurs voeren op twee schermen het kortstondige moment van een beginnende relatie op, wat gebeurt er als twee mensen elkaar voor het eerst ontmoeten? Het is een moment van spanning waarbij het woord ontbreekt en gevoelens getransformeerd worden door gezichtsuitdrukkingen. Iedere scène wordt twee keer opgevoerd; de eerste langzaam en de tweede versneld. Hierdoor kan de toeschouwer de kleinste veranderingen in de gezichtsuitdrukkingen volgen en zelf herhalen.
Das nächste Mal van Corinna Schnitt laat een idyllische zomerse scène zien. Een jongen en een meisje liggen uitgestrekt op het gras onder een uitbundig bloeiende boom. Ze zijn jong, hun vriendschap zweeft nog tussen kinderspel en volwassen verlangens. Ze gebruiken vreemde volwassen taal. De jongen noemt haar mooi en vraagt of ze romantischer kunnen worden, waarop het meisje hem een charmeur noemt en zijn vraag giechelend ontwijkt. Ze luisteren naar elkaar’s hartkloppingen. Het geluid van gezoem en gezoef had net zo goed het geluid van hun gierende hormonen kunnen zijn. Terwijl de vogels luid zingen, wordt de rest van de voorstelling door de soundtrack in de sfeer van rococo schilderijen geplaatst. Rennend en spelend in het gras, ontlaadt het stel uiteindelijk de spanning. Ze overschrijden echter hun privé Elysisch veld. Hoe meer de camera uitzoomt om de jongen en het meisje binnen het idyllische kader te houden, hoe meer het de wereld laat zien dat hun omringt. In Das nächste Mal transformeert Corinna Schnitt een rustieke picknick in een vervreemd verblijf op een door verkeersaders omsloten grasperk.
Tijdens de expositie HYPERLOVE is er een speciale lasergraffiti performance van Floris Schreuder. Bezoekers en voorbijgangers kunnen hun Valentijnsboodschap in de vorm van een lasertag op een buitenlocatie laten projecteren: een artistieke liefdesverklaring als grootbeeldprojectie in de openbare ruimte van Enschede.
Aansluitend vindt de Medialab avond E-ZONES plaats waarbij het huidige seksdebat wordt voortgezet en seksualiteit, nieuwe media, internetpornografie en mediakunst centraal komen staan.

The New Media Literacies project (NML), funded by the John T. and Catherine D. MacArthur Foundation, is developing a theoretical framework and hands-on curriculum for K-12 students that integrates new media tools into broader educational, expressive and cultural frameworks.
The NML team, led by Dr. Henry Jenkins and based at MIT's Comparative Media Studies program, is currently exploring K-12 digital literacy, guided by two questions: What do young people need to know in order to become full, active, creative, critical, and ethically responsible participants in a media-rich environment?, and what steps do we need to take to make sure that these skills are available to all?
