The Berardo Collection

The Berardo Collection is the result of an exercise in open-mindedness. We have made an effort to acquire works, which would illustrate, through their quality, the creative imagination of the artists. We do not accept any kind of limitation regarding movements, techniques or nationalities. On the contrary, we wish to keep these Collections open to the future and open to the public. Nevertheless visiting this site does not replace true contact with the work of art.

10 Utopien in Kunst und Design

Art and design have had an enduringly productive relationship. Artists and designers, as well as graphic artists, fashion designers, and architects, share common strategies, methods, and aims. While some artists employ design strategies to make socially critical statements, others use design as a way of reflecting everyday phenomena, emotions, or conceptual approaches. Many designers on the other hand, having dispensed with any belief in the ideal of neutrality, intervene increasingly in social, political, ethical, or ecological discourses. This exhibition confronts ten contemporary positions on the edge of reality, on the border of what is possible. Featuring: Jurgen Bey (NL), Bless (FR/DE), Dexter Sinister (GB/US), Dunne & Raby and Michael Anastassiades (GB), Alicia Framis (ES), Martino Gamper (IT/GB), Ryan Gander (GB), Martí Guixé (ES), Tobias Rehberger (DE) and Superflex (DK). A co-production with the Centre d’Art Contemporain Genève and the Haute école d’art et de design Genève.

Mimétisme

Pawel Althamer & Artur Zmijewski, Elisabetta Benassi, Charif Benhelima, Pierre Bismuth, Lieven de Boeck, Claude Cahun, Mircea Cantor, Andrea Cooper, Neil Cummings & Marysia Lewandowska, Mauricio Dias & Walter Riedweg, Harun Farocki, Marlon Fuentes, Tom Holert, Sofia Hultén, Yayoi Kusama, Ted Gaier & Peter Ott, Ria Pacquée, Jean Painlevé, Jean Rouch, Constanze Ruhm, Tomas Schmit, Isabell Spengler, Erik Steinbrecher, Javier Téllez, Barbara Visser

Mimétisme is a group exhibition probing an alternative conceptual framework for "theatricality" in the visual arts. Rather than looking at formal exchanges between theatre and the arts, this exhibition brings together works that use and critically reflect the abilities to act and to become something else. In doing so, it leaves behind the dominant understanding of mimesis as realist pictorial representation in favour of what Walter Benjamin has referred to as the "mimetic faculty": the mind's ability to detect and appropriate similarities, to mirror others, to imitate, to immerse and to become.

7th INTERNATIONAL PERFORMANCE ART GISWIL
Samstag, 6.

Live Art is an umbrella term encompassing a range of performance, performative and time based practices that are unrestricted by art form boundaries.

Planned from March 25th -30th 2008, the Festival will be a dynamic six day programme of events which will bring together exciting, diverse Indian and International performance artists in an attempt to showcase the different currents, positions and possibilities of contemporary performance art. Prominent art galleries across the city will host one evening each of performances over the course of the 6 days.
The Goethe Institut Max Mueller Bhavan, Alliance Francaise, Delhi, Palette Art Gallery, Anant Art Gallery and Gallery Espace are collaborating for this seminal venture."

Diagonale 08
