Initially Prototipi Manzoni will be a platform in the atrium of a mythical theatre in Milan. During the Furniture Fair a series of prototypes will be presented among conferences, discussions, tastings and meetings, as well as via the interface : www.prototipi-manzoni.com .
In order to facilitate the networking of this unique series, in hardware as well as in software, the space of the atrium will be equipped with Wi-Fi.
Prototype can be defined as a first or preliminary model of something, esp. a machine, from which other forms are developed or copied (Oxford American Dictionary). Unique but also created with the only aim of being multiplied, the prototype is located between the piece of art and the industrial object. It is precisely this ambiguity which interests Donatella Bernardi, artist (*1976) and Sibylle Stoeckli, designer (*1979) who have been working together since 2006 on projects ranging from the fine-arts to industrial design. The space will be covered by Modular Soft Bags, which are colorful and will create differents constructions and configurations every day.
Société Réaliste is a cooperative of artists created by Ferenc Gróf (*1972) and Jean-Baptiste Naudy (*1982) in 2004 in Paris.
They will be exhibiting in the atrium of the Teatro Manzoni a piece called Prototype of frontier, and will present the conference
Introduction to Culture States – Exposition of Arts and Techniques applied to Modern Life during the inauguration on the 17th of April at 5 pm.
Sooishi (*1981) consists in a culinary research, visible at www.sooishi.blogspot.com. For her cocktail of the 18th of April, she will propose a mold prototype for white and black chocolate that form a pied de coq motif used in textile confection. Chocolate structures, made by one of most renound chocolate makers, Blondel of Lausanne, will be presented on large aluminum trays
thermo lacquered in three colors : brown chocolate, strawberry red and sulfur yellow.
During the cocktail, Tonylight (*1973) and Cédric Carles (*1976) will be playing a selection of electronic music and live micromusic amplified by the Solar Audio Bag.
The visual identity of the project was produced by Emmanuel Rey (*1981) and Vincent Jacquier (*1983), the photography produced by Pénélope Henriod (*1981) et Michel Bonvin (*1979), four designers from Le Bureau.

Il tema della mostra illustra le future possibilità d’uso dei materiali naturali nella nostra vita, così Toshiyuki Kita ha rivolto la sua attenzione al legno, utilizzando i tronchi della Cryptomeria Japonica, che cresce in boschi sulle montagne di Kitayama, a Tokyo, e che viene usata da centinaia di anni nelle case giapponesi. Mediante l’unione delle sue eccellenti qualità naturali con l’alluminio, materiale totalmente riciclabile, Kita ha ideato una seduta che ben si intona allo stile di vita contemporaneo.
Paolo Troilo
“Nelle mani” è il titolo dell’esposizione che Paolo Troilo, giovane artista di adozione milanese, nato a Taranto nel 1972, ha scelto di dare alla sua personale presso Mondo Arte Gallery.
“Nelle mani” ha una forte valenza significativa, racchiude tutta la forza del mezzo espressivo di Troilo. Lui infatti dipinge con le mani, spande il colore donando forte matericità alle sue figure bicromatiche, utilizzando il grigio di payne e il bianco per tessere figure dolorose, urlanti, disperate, rannicchiate, sempre in tensione quasi a saltar fuori dalla tela con sfondo prettamente bianco. Sono tutti autoritratti i suoi personaggi e dipinti con forte gestualità tenendo in una mano una telecamera con cui si riprende, come se fosse uno specchio interattivo.
Le sue figure senza titolo si pongono come un ponte tra l’inconscio e la propria parte conscia.
Dialogano con l’osservatore ed esprimono l’io profondo.
Il risultato sono opere dalla forte tensione emotiva che non possono non conquistare chi le osserva.
In mostra vi saranno una quindicina di tele recenti che ci porteranno a ripercorrere questo misterioso mondo interiore di Troilo, giovane artista che ha già all’attivo esposizioni curate da Luca Beatrice e diverse partecipazioni a fiere internazionali.

Brave New Worlds
"Some artworks offer escape: fanciful worlds, soothing aesthetics, images and ideas made to calm and comfort. Others nudge us to question and reflect on realities facing us as individuals and as a society. The latter definition of art guides the exhibition Brave New Worlds, which considers the present state of political consciousness, expressed through the questions of how to live, experience, and dream. Organized by Walker visual arts curators Doryun Chong and Yasmil Raymond, the exhibition of some 70 works by 24 artists from 17 countries doesn’t resort to simplistic notions of “political art.” Instead, the diverse artistic voices gathered here seek different potentials for engagement and thus collectively offer a look beyond glib expressions of globalism."

Exonemo shows a new spacial installation at [plug.in]. The installations focusses on questions of digitized and symbolized death between the physical and virtual world. The audience can see, feel and hear the effects of a symbolic death in a computer game in the physical exhibition space.
Since 1996 exonemo have made a considerable impact in the media art world with daring, humerous and profound works. Sembo Kensuke and Yae Akaiwa reflect the growing influence of electronic media in our society and have shown, among other places, in Istanbul Biennale, The ICC and the Mori Art Museum in Tokyo, the Tamayo Museum in Mexico. DREAM AMSTERDAM 2008 - Ryoji Ikeda
Following Spencer Tunick's acclaimed presentation in 2007, Ryoji Ikeda will create new work for Dream Amsterdam 2008. Ikeda's commission for Dream Amsterdam Foundation presents his first large–scale artworks for public spaces and marks a new direction in his artistic career.
Using pure light as the material for his interventions in various secret locations across Amsterdam, Ikeda's intensely bright light installations will appear mysteriously, connecting a constellation of points across the cityscape.

Presentations on the theory & practice of surveillance and contemporary protest art, by graduate students in the ITP program at NYU's Tisch School of the Arts.
The presenters' talks will be grouped into four panels, to be moderated by their Professor, Marisa Olson (Curator at Large, Rhizome), on topics ranging from voyeurism and play to intervention and networks of control. These panels will consist of both artist talks and critical essays, and audience members will be invited to give feedback on a few works in progress.

S.a.L.E. DOCKS - VENEZIA
L'evento "Multiversity, ovvero l'arte della sovversione" nasce da un lavoro congiunto di Uni.Nomade e S.a.L.E. (Signs and Lyrics Emporium), tra una rete transterritoriale di militanti e ricercatori impegnati nell'analisi critica dei temi della contemporaneità e uno spazio autogestito, S.a.L.E. docks, nato alcuni mesi fa a Venezia con lo scopo di intervenire praticamente sul terreno della produzione culturale.
Terreno che, non solo a Venezia, si è ormai affermato quale ambito privilegiato per gli attuali processi di valorizzazione del capitale.
Se infatti ci si concentra sull'arte contemporanea, tale indiscutibile importanza è riscontrabile su almeno tre livelli.
Il primo è quello del ruolo centrale che beni immateriali e saperi, creatività e affetti, attitudini relazionali e comunicative vengono ad assumere per le forme contemporanee del modo di produrre: la produzione artistica non può sfuggire a questa centralità.
Il secondo è quello del rapporto tra produzione culturale e metropoli, dove l'intreccio tra urbanistica e architettura, moda e design, arte e letteratura, in quello spazio produttivo sociale per eccellenza che sono i bacini urbani, diviene da un lato elemento cruciale nei processi di soggettivazione attraverso i quali si costituisce la molteplicità di forme di vita che li abitano, dall'altro fattore decisivo per definire il posizionamento strategico di ciascuna area metropolitana nella competizione economica tra città globali.
Il terzo è quello del rapporto tra mercato dell'arte e capitale finanziario: a livello globale, banche e multinazionali sono tra i principali investitori in un settore che appare oggi come l'unico a non essere neppure sfiorato dalla crisi che investe il sistema mondiale della circolazione di denaro.
