Pixels

Pixels
A co-production of Hungarian MTV and Műcsarnok
17 January 2009 - 08 February 2009
Curators: Katalin SPENGER, Zsolt PETRÁNYI

Art is about having an audience. Gallery walls, however, often fall short of this goal when a young audience is to be reached. In the spring of 2008, Hungarian MTV and Műcsarnok launched a joint project to introduce young visual artists – painters, sculptors, photographers – to a broader public, to make young people familiar with the approaches and works of artists who recently started out on their careers. Each week, Pixel Portrait presented an artist, in the form of an illustrated five-minute interview. The thirty-piece series is now available for viewing on the website of MTV, and in December visitors can cast their votes on the most interesting personalities or works of art.

The artists presented in Pixel portraits:
ALBERT Ádám, ASZTALOS Zsolt, BATYKÓ Róbert, BORSOS Lőrinc Lilla, BORSOS Róbert, CZENE Márta, CSEPREGI Balázs, FODOR János, GALBOVY Attila, GYŐRFFY László, HANGAY Enikő, HATHÁZI László, HIDVÉGI Áron, HORVÁTH Dániel, KIRÁLY Gábor, KOKESCH Ádám, KOMLOVSZKY-Szvet Tamás, KOVÁCS Budha Tamás, KUDÁSZ Gábor Arion, OROSZ Klára, ÖTVÖS Zoltán, PÉLI Barna, RÁCZ Márta, RADÁK Eszter, SIPOS Eszter, STARK Attila, SUDÁR Péter, SZABÓ Eszter, TAMÁSI Claudia, TARR Hajnalka

Third International Conference on the Histories of Media Art, Science and Technology
Melbourne 26-29 November 2009
Call For Papers – Deadline 19th December 2008

Third International Conference on the Histories of Media Art, Science and Technology. The next iteration of the Media Art History conference is Re:live which is to be held in Melbourne, Victoria in 2009. The event follows the success of the two previous Media Art History conferences, re:fresh (Banff 2005) and re:place (Berlin 2007). The conference series is an initiative of Leonardo/ISAST (International Society for Art, Science and Technology) whose International Advisory Committee will publicise the event and referee papers.
In developing the Re:live conference, we have established a national committee, to promote awareness and interest in the event across Australia. This committee is comprised of individuals who can drive forward these newer connections and reconnect with the ongoing themes established by the ‘re’ conferences. Australia provides an excellent geographic, geopolitical and geocultural space for hosting this conference. It connects regionally with both Asian and Pacific cultures and the ongoing exchange of media arts between, northern and southern hemispheres.
