'2nd Annual Gulf-South Regional'

Opening Reception: Saturday, April 4, 2009 from 6pm-8:30pm.

BECA gallery is thrilled to present the '2nd Annual Gulf-South Regional' contemporary art group exhibition at the gallery's home location at 527 St. Joseph Street, New Orleans, LA from April 4, 2009 - May 23, 2009. The purpose of the 'Gulf South Regional' exhibition is to discover and highlight some of the most innovative emerging Gulf South contemporary artists who are on the leading edge of new art + ideas, their current work and the ideas that are motivating their creative processes.

This newest exhibition installment features today's most engaging and thought-provoking works of sculpture, painting, drawing and mixed-media expressing the progressive, contemporary culture of the gulf-south region of the United States: TX, LA, MS, AL and FL.

BECA gallery would like to congratulate the following ten artists whose works have been selected for this '2nd Annual Gulf-South Regional' exhibition:

James Alexander - Deon Blackwell - Scott Finch - Mark Grote - Adam Hall - Marina del Rosario Huang - Christopher McNulty - Luke Sides - Brian Spolans - Anne Stagg

Please join us on Saturday, April 4, 2009 from 6:30pm - 8:30pm at BECA gallery for the opening artists' reception to help us celebrate this talented group of emerging artists.

You'll also have the opportunity to support these emerging contemporary artists through acquisitions of the works on exhibition and possible future commissions of their work. The 1st installment in 2008 of this annual exhibition series was a huge success both at the gallery's physical space and online here. Many of those 1st exhibiting artists of the Gulf-South Regional series have since moved forward rapidly with new exhibition opportunities and acquisitions of their works both locally and nationally.

Every successfull artist began as a talented emerging artist and we think the newest 10 exhibiting artists in the Gulf-South series are most definitely worth a serious look! If you are currently outside of New Orleans and cannot visit our gallery space, please visit us online here where the entire exhibit will be available for online viewing beginning March 30, 2009.

Alessandro Sarra

JEAN TINGUELY

JEAN TINGUELY

APRIL 2 - AUGUST 2, 2009

"Movement" is a key concept when it comes to the Swiss artist Jean Tinguely (1925-1991). For the very first time in Norway, an exhibition devoted entirely to his works is being held at the Henie Onstad Art Centre. Early on in his career, Tinguely began experimenting with engines and electrical devices. This retrospective exhibition presents radio sculptures, apparatus you can cycle on, kinetic reliefs, machines that eject balls into the air and a number of "social events", involving self-destructing, mechanical sculptures that go up in smoke and fireworks.

Laval Virtual 2009 - General presentation

Laval Virtual 2009 - General presentation: "Laval Virtual is THE number 1 trade fair in Europe for virtual reality. So being a partner is a way to ensure visibility, by getting access to a hundred some odd media appearances covering the trade fair. We’re talking about over 150 articles in the written press (Le Monde, l’Usine Nouvelle, le Parisien, …), 100 on the web, about 30 reports in the audiovisual media (TF1, France 2 and 3, Europe 1, …)."
