Weekend in Galeries mode d’emploi

Weekend in Galeries mode d’emploi

Saturday 25 and Sunday 26

The 51 galleries members of the association Galeries mode d’emploi are opening for you for a special weekend to coincide with the second edition of LA FORCE DE L’ART at the Grand Palais.
This event which takes place for the first time in Paris, brings together both private and public institutions (CNAP, DAP/ Culturesfrance) to invite a public both French and foreign to discover a broad panorama of the artistic French scene.
Thanks to the logistic structure created by the association, and the CNAP, the exhibition programs of each gallery will be available to the public in a special edition of Galeries mode d’emploi.

You can also see the program on:
http://www.galeriesmodedemploi.com/

Someone from Galeries mode d’emploi will be at the information desk at the Grand Palais to greet you, to provide you with the information on: names and addresses of galleries, programming, opening hours, schedules for the shuttles.
Thanks to the partnership of the DAP and Culturesfrance, a shuttle service will be available from the Grand Palais to bring you to different areas of Paris where the galleries will be waiting for your visit: Saint Germain des Prés, the Marais, the 13th arrondissement, and Belleville.

Art Always Has Its Consequences

The workshop - being the third part of the project Working Title: Archive - is aimed at fostering critical reflection on the potential of an institutional archive that came to occupy a key position in contemporary artistic and curatorial practices. The archive collection of the Muzeum Sztuki including documents, audio recordings, and photographs, will provide a point of departure for invited guests (artists, curators, art historians) to analyze archive theory in a broad context, in relation to research in the field of history, sociology, and the history of ideas, as well as document-gathering practices.

Invited guests:
David Dibosa (University of Arts, London), Lisa Le Feuvre (Goldsmith College, London), Antony Hudek (John Latham Archive, London), Natasa Illić & Sabina Sabolović (WHW, Zagreb), Marysia Lewandowska, Lia Perjovschi (Bucharest), Shepherd Steiner (University of Florida), Alexander Skidan & Dmitry Vilensky (Chto delat, Petersburg), Jelena Vesić & Dusan Grlja (Prelom Kolektiv, Belgrad)

VIENNA DESIGN WEEK 2009

The aim of VIENNA DESIGN WEEK is to show and enable people to experience the many-faceted creative work in the fields of product, furniture and industrial design, but also positions of experimental design. After two successful festivals in 2007 and 2008, also this October an exquisite and colourful programme of events will be awaiting the visitors. Design has been and is an important field in the production of culture: it shapes our material culture, our everyday life and our consumer world, it influences our lifestyles and fashions and most fundamentally our aesthetic sense and judgements. This wide-ranging impact is a reason both to celebrate design and to examine it critically, and VIENNA DESIGN WEEK has made both of these its missio
